Thank you all for working through the tutorial questions. I noticed that there were some problems on some indices questions. I will be moderating your marks accordingly. If you have encountered other problems with generation of the questions (possible if the network drops the connection). If that happens, Grade and Save and Quit, and come back again. A fresh paper will be generated.

I have added two further sets called Miscellaneous Revision Paper 1 (5 questions), and 2 (10 questions). If you can complete these two papers satisfactorily, you can be confident that you have the necessary skills of the basics, and can make further progress.

Please do try your best and let me know if you have any queries.

Warm welcome to Maths Tutorials - ICSC(L) 6A!

I tend to keep notes of frequent misconceptions, frequently asked questions raised in the tutorial sessions in this Blog. Feel free to send me an email (vsastry.cu@defenceacademy.mod.uk) , if you have any queries.

Solve for x: x + 1/2x = 4 ...

When simplifying
x + (1/2)x = 4
2 is left out for some reason.

You should treat both sides of the equation the same way.
For example, multiply both sides by 2:

2x + 2*(1/2)x = 2*4
2x + x = 8
3x = 8
x = 8/3

Maths topics - venkat's blog

This is an experimental blog to feed into classes I teach in Moodle. The idea is collect generic mistakes students often tendto make in their homework, and inform them in a timely fashion.
A single repository for the author, and multiple recipients who can benefit. Let us see how it works!
